History Miniature Pinschers are also known as “The King of the Toys”. It is said that a small Pinscher had lived in Germany many centuries before Miniature Pinscher evolved as a separate breed during the 1800s. In German the word “pinscher” means “terrier”. These dogs were originally developed to hunt rats. Today Miniature Pinschers are award winning companion and watch dogs.

Characteristics

The Miniature Pinschers is a very devoted and lively dog – they are also very fond of playing. These dogs have to be socialized properly during puppy hood as they can be very cautious of strangers when they become older. The Miniature Pinschers are small little dogs that enjoy the company of their families.

Temperament

Miniature Pinschers possess a lot of energy. They are very brave and courageous for their size, and they are also very clever little dogs. Miniature Pinschers think that they are a lot larger than they actually are, and can therefore be very aggressive toward other dogs. This breed has a very stubborn streak about them, but with some patience they can be trained. These dogs don’t like to be handled in a rough manner, and might bite small children when they treat them in a heavy handed way. Like all toy dogs, the Miniature Pinscher is quite difficult to housebreak. These dogs love to nestle up on your bed, under a blanket.

Care

The Miniature Pinscher is not a very high maintenance dog when it comes to grooming. They can only be brushed occasionally. These dogs can be wiped with a damp cloth in order to keep their coats in a good condition. Training

Miniature Pinschers are very bright and clever, and they tend to learn quickly. But it is important that their owners are firm and confident. Training should be conducted in a positive manner. Although these dogs are fairly small, they also possess a lot of boldness. These dogs should be kept in a secure area in order for them to play. This breed likes to escape, and they are also good climbers.
