History The Entlebucher Sennenhunds named has been derived from a town in the Swiss region, Lucerne. The Entlebucher Sennenhund is the smallest of all the mountain dogs. The origin of these dogs is not entirely sure, but it is believed that they are linked to the mastiffs of the Roman legions. Although the Entlebucher Sennenhund is very popular in Switzerland, they are not often seen outside of the country.
Characteristics
The Entlebucher Sennenhund is very energetic and unpredictable – they are also very composed dogs that are very brave. These dogs will not easily fall for bribes, and therefore make excellent watchdogs. The Entlebucher is a very feisty dog – they are also very clever and keen on learning new things.
Temperament
The Entlebucher Sennehund is a very sociable dog that likes to be between people – especially family and friends. This breed is very watchful and keen on pleasing its family. These dogs were at first used to drive cattle, but these days they are used to guard livestock and be companion dogs.
Care

Training
The Entlebucher Sennenhund will do best if training is presented in a calm and caring manner – although the trainer should at the same time be firm. These dogs learn very quickly, and it the trainers should make sure that they have lots of positive experiences with other animals and people during its socialisation training. This breed will not do well in kennels as they like to be outdoors.
